When journeys go places we couldn't have imagined

Maps will always be at the center of Mapping Your Path, but it’s crazy to me to think that when I first started MYP I thought we were going to make maps and have fun, and go into the New Year looking forward to it. All that is still true, but…

I never could have imagined who would have signed up for Mapping Your Path. Everyone shows up at the level they feel comfortable with, but something started to happen. People were honest, and vulnerable, and shared their true, honest, unabashed selves. I’m not sure that this would have been possible in “normal times.”

The fact that I launched in October 2020 meant people were ready to get real and were looking for connection. We connected on all sorts of things from Bridgerton to Paris Hilton’s documentary in the first round of Mapping Your Path, while participants also got into their grad program, quit their jobs, or started their own businesses. The support of each other made it easier to push each other, as we were inspired by what was unfolding around us.

In MYP I guide people through monthly workshops and creative mapping exercises. Exercises are quick (love a good creative constraint of time), while also unblocking. We find clarity in unexpected ways through the simplicity of playing with paper and pens/markers. There’s so much in you that you already know!

One of the biggest barriers to entry is the desire for instant gratification over the journey. We rarely acknowledge that the journey is messy. But it is. Sometimes REAL messy. But the mess is how we find clarity and apply what we know deep down.

The actual journey is about starting before you’re ready and being OK with showing up imperfectly. You’ll get further faster when you do.

And while there’s a tendency to want to have everything all figured out, Mapping Your Path is also an invitation to let some magic in. So much of the journey is about exploration, but when we find our paths we are more aligned. That’s when the true magic can happen.

But you must be open to possibilities, and open to moving past the blocks and limiting beliefs that may be holding you back. (As your guide, I experience the full spectrum of the journey as well and will be right there with you living out loud, sharing my experiences, and guiding you along the way).

This fall kicks off the SEVENTH round of Mapping Your Path—an idea that was a seed of an idea when I started, and truly an experiment. October 7th we kick off the 3rd “into the New Year” version of MYP: Mapping Your Path into 2023. I could not be more excited to get started! There’s a fantastic group of returning MYPers (many who have been with me from the start!), as well as new faces too.

I intentionally keep MYP a manageable size so I can connect with the community. I love being the human dot connector to connect community members to each other, or to resources that may support them through their season of life. And of course it’s amazing to see how participants take the exercises I share to the next level! It truly is a bit of magic!
