2021: The Year of AUDACITY

2021-ASD-audacitymap-shoes.jpg

Every year I come of with a word or theme. In recent years I’ve expanded to draw a map, which I print and mail to 100 people with personal notes of gratitude.

2020 was my Year of EXPLORE. In case you missed the post, I’m happy to report back that I fully embraced and lived that theme despite the limitation of not being able to venture far.

2021 is my YEAR OF AUDACITY. I loved running my 3-month Mapping Your Path into 2021 workshop in the months leading up to the New Year, because it gave me time to refine my word. It changed three times, but this just feels right. (And before this version of this map, it was a banana map—HA!)

Audacity to me is…

  • Playing big

  • Being bold

  • Courage

  • Speaking up

  • Openness

  • Discovery

  • Leading

  • Changing the narrative

  • Putting myself out there

  • Going against the grain

  • Dancing with the universe

  • Trusting

  • Believing

  • Dreaming

  • Possibility

  • Helping others shine in the process

How I want to feel:

  • Alive

  • In control

  • Proud

  • Empowered

  • Happy

  • Joyful

  • Valued

  • Surprised

  • Relaxed

  • Amused

  • Calm

  • Loved

  • Appreciated

An incomplete list of endeavors where I want to embrace AUDACITY:

  • Be the best version of me

  • Speak up for self + for others (even in Instagram captions I can embody audacity)

  • Help + support others write their own rules

  • My grandfather’s project + writing him back into history (maybe as a screenplay)

  • A top secret book project with a friend that will change the world

  • Having open, honest conversations

  • Putting self out there personally and professionally

  • Make GOOD money + be valued

  • Embracing pleasure

  • Trying new things

  • Collaborate with people I look up to

  • Embrace creativity in unexpected ways

  • Re-wire/re-write old ideas

  • Share my gifts with the world

  • Have a freakin’ good time in everything I do

  • Say NO when something doesn’t feel right

  • Maps on bananas

  • Do work that feels meaningful and changes lives

  • Change the narrative

  • Change the world

It’s time to change how things are done.
